Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NLT)

About

Welcome! Here you’ll find my blog, β€œA Moment’s Notice,” as well as information about my new young adult novel, Chrysalis.

GOOD NEWS! I’ll be part of a β€œMeet the Author” event hosted by the ladies of First Baptist Church of Middletown, Virginia, on Saturday, June 8th. The gathering will begin at 10:30 a.m. and brunch will be served. The church is located at 2425 First Street in Middletown. Email me at RitaPettit@ritafinchpettit.com if you need directions or to RSVP.

I grew up in a small South Carolina town, but I've covered a lot of ground since then: I've lived in Texas, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, Alabama, Colorado, North Dakota, and now Virginia.  Thanks to my husband's Air Force career and a bit of determination I've had the pleasure of visiting all 50 states.  I feel sorry for Americans who have been to Europe but haven't seen the Rocky Mountains.

All those changes of address helped this small-town girl become more open to change and forced me to focus on what's truly important.  I believe only about five or six things should be taken seriously; the rest is just fluff.

My relationship with Jesus Christ tops my short list of serious things.  It is fundamental to everything I do.  He makes optimism possible, because He brings meaning to this life and will walk with me into the next.
